When I first started investing, I was concerned that my advisor wasn't necessarily considering my best interests. I used that opportunity to learn and discovered I had awakened a passion. The more I studied, the more I felt compelled toward a calling in the industry. Aligning myself with Edward Jones was an easy decision since we held mutual values.
While much has changed over 20 years, the best has remained the same. I work hard each day to know my clients' stories, goals and challenges. By knowing what's important to them, I can build a personalized portfolio to serve as their financial roadmap to building wealth and protecting it. This aspect of protection is crucial for me since my grandparents struggled with very little through the Depression/war years. Their values of hard work, gratitude and responsibility are ones I hold dear.
Outside of work, I sit of the Board of High Road Services (support for special needs individuals) and Dyk Tiy Housing (for low income/ individuals with disabilities). My association with these boards, together with my personal understanding of their needs - prompted me to be a founding member of the Smithers Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament (1991) which still exists today. You'll often see my middle son Jeremy (who has special needs taking part in opportunities initiated by these organizations.
My wife, Shirley and I love to spend time outdoors, especially if it involves fishing, camping and the odd game of golf. Our oldest child, Jocelyn (Min of Forests) and her husband, Jordie recently moved back to the Bulkley Valley where they were both raised. I am thrilled to be welcoming Jordie to the firm - a plan that has been in the works for some time! Since our branch has grown, we are looking forward to expanding with a new facility soon! Our youngest son, Brenden (Town of Smithers) is also local, which allows our family to see each other frequently. So much to be grateful for!
