I believe your financial strategy should be as individual as you are. Your goals and your situation are uniquely yours. Your financial strategy should be also. In order to deliver that, we will access a variety of investment options with the freedom to make the choices that serve you best. That's why I purposefully chose to work with Edward Jones. We have no proprietary products, so no pressure to recommend a "product of the month." We are a partnership, so we serve the needs of our clients rather than the interests of stockholders. And we live by a standard that the clients' interests come first.
Choosing a financial advisor is not a choice to be taken lightly because it's about your money and how it can impact your family, your future and your legacy. Having been on both sides of the desk, I have three suggestions:
1) Choose someone you like – someone you'll enjoy as a teammate.
2) Find someone you can grow with and work side-by-side with for the long-term.
3) Select someone you trust. There's a lot at stake.
Making this kind of choice may take a few visits. It's worth the time.
My work gives me a tremendous sense of satisfaction because I am making a difference. I chose this profession partly because of my own background. A single mom raised us four kids. She had been influenced to invest her money unwisely in a way that cost her to access it for my schooling. I've set my sights on helping others not only to avoid costly decisions but to make their money work for them. I got my degree in finance, joined the military for four years and then opened my practice with Edward Jones.
I'm married to my beautiful wife, whom is taking time off from her practice as a criminal lawyer to pursue her dream of learning to teach ballet at the National Ballet School of Canada. I'm originally from Cobden, ON which is a small town west of Ottawa and moved to Toronto in 2006.
For fun, I love hockey – playing, watching, refereeing – and golf. And I'm an amateur comedian.
