After nine years in Toronto, I left the Bay Street world of institutional investment research and structured private debt finance to start an advisory practice in my hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia. I did this because helping people and their loved ones matters more to me than pension funds and insurance companies.
My team and I focus on helping incorporated business owners and philanthropists do three things:
1) Make responsible investment decisions with large sums of capital.
Typically this comes from the tax-efficient extraction of capital from a corporation; an exit from a business; an inheritance; a pension or insurance claim payout; or the sale of a home.
2) Improve tax efficiency and build lifelong financial security.
Tax strategies, legal considerations and financial security go hand in hand. By integrating tax and legal professionals into our holistic approach we can ensure our clients and their loved ones are on the right path to living their best lives, now and in the future.
3) Dream big about making the world a better place.
When clients reach a stage where they have more capital than they and their families will need, we can have some really fun conversations about different strategies for making substantial gifts. Our relationships with professionals experienced in structuring significant gifts into wealth and estate plans; our commitment to creating socially responsible, values-based investment portfolios; and our familiarity with different giving vehicles, in particular philanthropy through Donor Advised Funds, are unique benefits we offer our clients.
Our clients value our clear and responsive communication, unbiased and independent advice, and being able to leave their financial considerations with a trusted advisory team so they can say "Wonderful, you handle all of this so we can stop worrying about it!"
If you think we can help, I invite you to book an appointment so we can assess your specific situation. We welcome the opportunity to build a lasting relationship with you and your loved ones.
