I started working at Edward Jones on December 27, 2012. I remember that day well because it was the first workday back from the Holidays, so there was lots of time for me to learn the processes and culture. I come from a financial services background – I used to work at a bank – but I feel like I really found a home with Edward Jones. Not only does the company treat me and my family well, but I love how putting clients first is so engrained in the culture.
The first time a client walks into my office, my number one priority is to make them feel safe. I remind them that I am not here to sell them products; rather, it is my job to listen to them and to learn about their needs and goals for the future. My process begins with finding out the answer to “why?” Once I have a clear understanding of their intentions, I can work back to find the answer to “how?” From there it only makes sense to monitor their portfolio and make recommendations to help them stay on track to achieving their goals.
Investing doesn’t have to be complicated. I strive to make things as simple as possible for my clients to understand, while at the same time ensuring that the information is accurate and meets their personal needs and level of risk tolerance. Honesty is an important value of mine.
While I consider Regina home, I’m actually from Ontario. I was born in Mississauga but I ended up moving back and forth to Saskatchewan a few times with my mother and sister, until we finally decided to stay. I now live in Regina with my wife of 21 years, Leanne, our 17-year old son, Josh, and our two dogs, Jasmine and Skylar. In my spare time, I am the proud coach of my son’s baseball team, and enjoy spending time with him at the ball-park.
