For my master's degree, I wrote a novel about resilience. It explored the topic from all angles necessary to satisfy academia but was presented through storytelling. It was the first novel accepted in Canada as actual research by the academic world. The study of resilience is the study of happy people. What I learned with that project has guided the work that I do with all our clients.
Resiliency requires a support system and a positive attitude. That's what Cathy and Tracey, our branch office administrators, and I do. We provide the service and support that helps make your life goals a reality. It can be easy to get sidetracked by fear or even unintentional greed. We'll partner together for the long haul to recalibrate on the big picture and what you are trying to accomplish and to focus on opportunity and positive outcomes.
Resilience requires a sense of control. When we use our tools to show you a tangible image of the work we're doing and the progress we've made, it's amazing to realize how much control you have over this exceedingly important aspect of your life.
I've been working directly with clients for more than 16 years now. It's a win-win: this work makes a difference for them, and that's rewarding for me.
Our journey through life shapes how we view the world and how we help others. My background took me from opera (I have a fine arts degree in music and sang professionally for several years) to teaching (my second degree and second career) to a Master of Arts in leadership. My son, now in university, has travelled this journey with me and is currently pursuing his graduate degree so he can make a difference in the world.
Our desire to help others live their best lives has led our office to help people going through change – especially divorce. My goal is to help those affected reclaim a sense of financial control and ease the fear of the path forward.
