Michael Lawrence

Michael Lawrence is a Strategist within the Canadian Financial Planning department, responsible for the development, implementation, and communication of the firm’s financial planning guidance. His work spans the creation and refinement of planning strategies, updates to Edward Jones’ capital market assumptions, strategic and opportunistic portfolio guidance, and the integration of advice and guidance into key advisor tools and platforms.

Michael joined Edward Jones in 2022. With more than 15 years of industry experience and professional designations including Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Investment Manager® (CIM®), and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation he brings deep technical expertise and a broad, cross-functional perspective to financial planning. He plays a key leadership role on multiple internal committees that shape the firm’s advice and guidance, collaborating closely with teams across Canada and the U.S. to ensure strategic alignment and practical application across the advisor network.

A trusted voice across the organization, Michael regularly authors strategy and insight reports and delivers advisor education through webinars and in person events. He serves as the lead for Canada’s Quarterly Market Insights advisor call, represents Canada on the internal Advice Engine committee, and chairs the Financial Planning Policy Committee (FPPC), reinforcing his position as a thought leader in both investment and financial planning strategy.

Before joining Edward Jones, Michael worked at MD Financial Management as a financial planning consultant with MD Signature and later as a portfolio relationship manager with MD Private Investment Counsel.

Michael lives in the Ottawa area with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and playing golf and hockey.
