On Monday, October 19, 1987, while walking home from school I heard the TSX had dropped 11%, and the Dow 23%, the largest one-day drop in history in percentage terms. The 6:00 p.m. newscast focused on the market crash and panicked investors. My father wasn’t fazed and the next day invested more money. He taught me the importance of staying true to your investment strategy, owning quality investments, and the value of patience – and sparked my life long interest in investing.
