My parents emigrated from Poland when I was five. Looking back, I see that throughout my childhood they gave us kids everything and left very little for themselves. I'm grateful to them. But more than that, I now have the ability to start helping take care of them, and that is deeply satisfying.
That's the power of money – being able to afford the things that really matter to you. Knowing that you'll be comfortable in retirement and maybe even retiring early. Thoughtfully indulging in your pleasures without jeopardizing your must-haves. Knowing that your family, or your business, is safe even when life's surprises strike.
But none of this just happens. It takes forethought, a vision and a consistently managed plan to get there. That's exactly what I help clients do – articulate their vision for life and legacy, put their money to work toward it and build the money habits that help them stay on track.
During my 16 years in financial services, working with both individuals and business owners, there are a few universal mistakes I've seen investors make, and here's my guidance. For starters, don't focus on alarming financial headlines; they are not in the business of putting your money to work toward your goals. Second, forget about timing the market; we'll build a sustainable path forward that addresses both up and down markets. And finally, when you've reached the point in your career that your income becomes significant, let me help you develop an objective, facts-based plan to steer clear of the luxury trap.
In addition to my experience at ScotiaCapital and BMO Nesbitt Burns on Bay St. in Toronto, I hold the professional designation of Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) and am a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI®). I hold a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Dalhousie University.
On a personal note, my fiancé who is a pilot and I love sailing and managed to earn a third-place finish in a pretty big race on Lake Ontario. My extended family still runs one of the biggest family farms in their Polish province. And my dog, Buddy, is a rescue from Sossua, in the Dominican Republic who keeps us on our toes and actively exploring our beautiful community.
Now, I look forward to hearing about you. Let's see if I can help you build the financial strength to live your best life and leave the legacy you want.
