The more you know, the better investor you will be. You can make more informed decisions and sleep better at night knowing where you're invested and why. Conveniently, I'm a firm believer in educating the clients I serve. I'm honored when I hear someone tell me, "I've learned more in the last hour than in my entire life."

I realize that finances aren't everyone's first love, and some even dread it. That doesn't preclude your ability to learn and make better financial decisions for yourself. With a background in engineering, I'm very visual. So, I do a lot of drawing to easily demonstrate financial concepts. You'll learn enough to feel informed and in control, and you'll be able to see how I'm working in your best interest.

Prior to joining Edward Jones, I spent 20 years with Bell Canada, first as a professional electrical engineer and subsequently as national account executive. Now, as a financial advisor for more than a decade, I draw on the same skills I honed then, including analyzing and problem-solving, strategic and tactical planning, and active listening. It's how I make sure to create financial strategies acutely tailored to each individual client.

Looking back, I realize I've always been fascinated with investing. I recall how at age 10, I dragged my mom to the bank. "Mom," I'd say, "this investment pays 10% and doubles every seven years. We have to buy some." Since that time, I've learned that an investment doesn't act alone but is part of an overall strategy toward a goal, but I do still do my due diligence – though now, it's more sophisticated.

I love my work. There's nothing like making the kind of difference that means clients can live the life they choose. If I retired tomorrow, I'd just go home and do the same thing I'm doing now.

Outside of the office, I stay active with the Shriner's and in three Chambers of Commerce (Hubbards, St. Margarets Bay and Bridgewater). For personal enjoyment, I garden and follow global economics.
