Despite what the old adage says, ignorance is not bliss when it comes to your finances.

In my 20+ years in financial services, I've seen too many people avoid learning what they need to know and instead just follow the crowd for money advice. It's not unusual for that avoidance to start because they're uncomfortable with money decisions and even asking for help. But letting discomfort lead to inaction can backfire when they can't afford to retire, or when their debt overtakes their budget.

I tell my clients that it's okay to feel uncomfortable, that we're in this together for the long haul. I'll explain concepts and strategies in plain language, and they can learn as much as they want to know. Meanwhile, I'll do the heavy lifting and recommend options so they can confidently decide what makes sense for them and their family.

Just as investment choices can be confusing, so can the need to pivot when life changes. Moving from the earning years, for example, into retirement requires a completely new money management mindset – from building savings to pulling from savings – and a need to consider how to do it tax efficiently.

I enjoy my work immensely because I connect closely with people and then help them stay on the financial path that can make a positive difference in their lives. To better serve a wide range of goals and needs, I've earned the Certified Financial Planner® designation.

I grew up in Trail, moved away for ten years and, when the pull got too strong, I came home to the Kootenays to plant roots in Nelson. I've lived here now for a dozen years, my kids were born here and from my local office, I can easily deliver personal service to my clients.

An in-person meeting can do what the written word cannot – let you feel for yourself a level of comfort with our conversations and my approach to our work together. I'd welcome a chance to meet you and see if we're a fit. No pressure, I promise.
