Locked-In Retirement Income Funds (LRIFs)

Description
A Locked-In Retirement Income Fund is an investment instrument available in some provinces that is used to pay out pension funds upon retirement. A LRIF is created with funds from a LIRA, LIF or pension plan and allows an investor to convert his or her retirement savings into retirement income.

Customers turning 69 who need to convert locked-in funds into an income vehicle.

  • Volatile: The income amount the investor will receive each year will change depending on investment earnings during the previous year.

     
  • Withdrawals: LRIFs are subject to minimum and maximum withdrawal amounts.
