I Have Money to Invest

Marie Simard had been trying for some time to find experts to help her manage her savings and retirement plan. Then she read an article in a large daily newspaper mentioning the Edward Jones financial advisor* in her area.

She was intrigued by what she read and attended a symposium on investing. That's when she met her financial advisor for the first time. She was immediately impressed by his approach. In the following days, she visited Edwardjones.com. She says, "The information I found and the way it was presented only served to increase my first favourable impression."

According to Marie, an executive in the technology industry, she had known more than her share of disappointments with speculative investments and she was quite ready for an approach that made much more sense.

"Right away, I felt that my values and his were the same, which put me at ease and won my trust," she says. She also appreciated the fact that she would not have to pay hefty set fees to have an account, but that services would be billed on a per transaction basis.

"In addition, I found that Edward Jones had a marketing approach that was quite different from the competition. I sensed more depth in my financial advisor's analysis," she says. She said she felt her representative wasn't the type to blindly follow the latest trend, like so many of his competitors she met before.

After a few meetings where Marie and her financial advisor discussed her assets and her goals and objectives of investing, they managed rather quickly to reach a very high level of mutual understanding. In the following months, they developed a strategy.

"I am very pleased with my representative. All the proposals submitted to me are in complete agreement with my instructions and his analyses are always very carefully prepared." She has rolled over most of her assets to Edward Jones in three separate accounts: an RRSP, a LIRA and a non-registered investment account.

Marie has also enjoyed the relationship they have developed. She says, "I speak with my representative on a regular basis and he is always very quick to respond."
